Vee Accessories

I love supporting local businesses and generally am a sucker for anything handmade, so when I found out someone I work with makes her own custom jewellery I had to have a nosy!

Vee Accessories are an upcoming jewellery brand based in Sunderland, UK. The founders, Lucy and her mum Sue, design and create the pieces by hand and they certainly have a trendy, kitsch aesethetic about them! Currently they  runs the business through their Facebook Group- which I urge you all to join HERE so you can have a browse!- and orders can be placed via her email address. Here are few of my favorite pieces, all very beautiful and all handmade!

Lucy was kind enough to answer a few questions I sent to her about her pieces so without further a due, here is the interview with some more information about Vee Accessories!

What made you decide to start making Jewellery? Was it something you’d always wanted to do or a spur of the moment idea?

Well it all started really when my mam had bought me a necklace over a year ago, I was looking at it and started thinking about designs, and that’s when I looked into how difficult it would be to make your own pieces/where to get the equipment and bits and pieces (called “findings”). So me and my mam (Sue) decided to have a go of making them together, her making the kind of pieces she would like to wear, and the same with me.

What would you say influences your designs? Do you have anything specific in mind when you’re creating the pieces?

Well so far it has mostly been pieces that I would like to own myself haha! People who particularly inspired me, my favourite bands, films, colours. I also try to do pieces on themes that I have seen to be popular, I know Alice in Wonderland is very in at the moment so have done a few pieces with that theme.

I particularly love the kitsch aesthetic of the pieces that often include iconic imagery or vintage film poster graphics. Is this something you’re interested in?

Oh most definitely. I am a massive fan of cinema so incorporating that into my jewellery was something I was very keen to do. It was also something that, as far as I was aware, had not been done much so thought it would really appeal to film lovers like me! I have began using iconic film posters in my jewellery and hope to do a lot more of this in the future.

Are you a jewellery lover yourself? What sort of items do you love to wear personally?

I am! I love accessories and it is what I would usually spend my money on (as you can imagine, making my own saves me a lot! haha) I love necklaces, rings and I really like brooches.

What specific items of jewellery do you currently make? Is there anything you’d like to expand into in the future?

At the moment we make brooches, necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings! Plans for the near future include to expand to hair slides and other hair accessories.

How do we order your Jewellery? Do you offer custom designs?

You can either order by messaging us through our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/veeaccessories), or by emailing us at veeaccessories@gmail.com. Payment can be made either through Paypal, by cheque, postal order or direct bank transfer.

Yes we do custom orders, using any imagery/themes the customer would like (even their own photos!) and can be made using any colours Each one of our pieces are unique, but if you see something that you like we can make something similar, just with slight differences.

Thank you Lucy for answering my questions, please go check her out guys- the pieces would make excellent Christmas presents!
